We have three matches left to improve our standing. These matches are: August 12 at Ponderosa, September 9 at home against Lexington, and October 7 at Lancaster.
The Senior Interclub Bash
Last year, the Bash, the League’s end-of-year tournament, was expanded to two courses. This year, the board of directors has voted to go back to the one-course format, meaning participation will be limited to 120 players, 12 from each team. The Bash is an individual competition using the Stapleford system. This year’s tournament will be played during the first week in November. The exact date and the course for the event will be determined after member clubs submit bids for the event. The Woodlands plans to submit a bid to host the event.
The 12 players to participate will be selected based on the number of matches played during the season. If two or more players tie for the 12th spot, selection will be based on points won during the season.
Scoring Leaders
Again this year, there will be a prize for the top two scorers on the team during the season. With three matches to go, the following players are the leading scorers:
Ken Grimm - 10.5
Tom Truitt - 9.5
Joe Watson - 9.5
Barry Cooke - 9.5
John Southern - 9.5
Jack Bonniville - 9.0
Players scoring 3 points in a match will have an opportunity to win a special prize in a drawing. If a player scores 3 points in multiple matches, his name will be placed in the drawing the same number of times. Players who have scored three points in matches to date are:
Jack Bonniville (2)
Ron Cecil (2)
Ken Grimm (2)
John Southern (2)
Don Brooks
Bob Hubble
Stuart Smith
Tom Truitt

Once again, our next Interclub Match will be on August 12th at Ponderosa Golf Club .
The schedule of our matches is listed below:
August 12-at Ponderosa
September 9-Lexington at WCC
October 7-at Lancaster
A sign-up sheet for matches will be posted in the club house and on the internet 2-3 weeks before each match. The first 16 persons to sign up will represent WCC in that match. If we have more than 16 wanting to play, we can accommodate additional players at home matches only. We can do this by having a tournament within the match with only WCC players.
In addition to the Interclub matches, WCC hosts a club senior tournament each month. You also have the opportunity to play in invitational tournaments in clubs around Columbia. All of these events are handled by sign-up sheets in the club house or on the internet.
You are encouraged to play in our matches and all senior events at WCC.
