News:

Play Days
You may play your play day on any day Tuesday through Sunday.  If you play more than once during the week, you can only turn in one card.  All cards will be picked up on Wednesdays by Dianne Lekovish for the previous week.  Basic information:  all cards must be filled out completely and LEGIBLY, golfer, gross, putts, total, handicap, net.  All cards must be dated, signed, and attested.  Any exceptions and the card will be rejected.  No more than 2 golfers per score card.  You must play with an LGA member.  Same information for 9 hole golfers.  You can only turn in a play day card for either 9 holes or 18, not both, however, you can play the front one day, the back the next, and use that as your 18 if you are an 18 hole golfer.  The Wednesday group is going to continue, so if you want to play on Wednesday, please sign up by Tuesdays.  All pairings will be done by the pro shop.  If you do not want to be paired randomly, please do not sign up to play with the Wednesday group.  Starting this Wednesday, March 3rd the tee time will be 10 AM.  As the weather warms, Dianne will work with Tom to get an earlier tee time.  We will once again be doing pennies for putts, but we will track these and collect at year end.

LGA Member-Member Tournament - Saturday & Sunday, April 24th & 25th
The 2010 LGA Member-Member Tournament was held on Saturday and Sunday, April 24th & 25th.
Despite a rather uninviting forecast, we were able to complete all 36 holes of four different formats.  The competitors played 9 holes of captain's choice, 9 holes of Texas scramble, 9 holes of best ball, and 9 holes of modified alternate shot.  We had 12 teams for the event, and we awarded prizes for 1st and 2nd low gross and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd low net.

Once all of the scores were turned in, Julie Snider and Suzann Bartley fired a wonderful 36-hole total of 143 (1 under par) to take home the first place honors in the Gross Division.  Suzann and Julie finished 9 shots clear of Natalie Huff and Lauralee Hansen who posted a very respectable score of 152.

In the net competition, Nancy Martin and Marty Broadnax edged out two other teams by 2 shots to capture the overall Net Title.  Nancy and Marty posted a score of 127, to take home top honors.  Finishing in second place in the Net Division was the team of Debbie Richard and Patti Melotte who fired a two-day total of 129 and edged out Diana and Ruthann Como on a match of cards for 3rd place.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in the 2010 LGA Member-Member Tournament and congratulate all of the winners.  We would also like to thank Sharon and the Food and Beverage Staff for the wonderful lunch on Sunday and Sandy Forbes for hosting the lunch at her house on Saturday.

Cat Fights

We will have 3 Catfights remaining this year.  They are on the tournament schedule, but the dates are on 6/26, 7/24, and 8/21.  These tournaments are a lot of fun, so make sure you sign up to participate.

LGA Meetings
Meetings are held the 3rd Wednesday of the following months, July, August, September, and October.  Those dates are, 7/21, 8/18, 9/15, 10/20.  Also, we are going to start having dinner at the meetings.  We will order prior to the start of the meeting and hopefully be finishing up the meeting as the food is served.  Everyone will have to pay for their own dinner, but it will give the group a chance to socialize and again attempt to strengthen and grow our LGA.

Dues
The annual dues are $30.00 per person and are due now.  In order to qualify for most improved award at end of year, your dues must be paid by 3/31/10.  Please make checks payable to Woodlands LGA.  You may give your check to Natalie Huff or drop in the box in the locker room.

Communication
I will continue to send emails out as things pop up or as reminders, however, if you or another member you know, would also like to receive a phone call, please let Lauralee Hansen or Cheryl Munn know and they will add to their phone lists.  Also, Betsy Duffy will be our Sunshine Lady, so if you know of anyone who is sick or just needs a note, please let her know so she can send something out on behalf of the LGA.

I think this covers everything.  If anyone has any questions of knows of anything I didn’t cover, please let me know.  I do not have our 2 new members on this email but will forward it tonight in case anyone talks to them.

Thanks, and go have a ball!
